Deathly Hallows Part II Trailer Released

Enjoy!

What do you think?

The part where Tonks reaches out to Lupin is so sad. But I don't think I saw Fred in there. Did you?

Watched it again and did see Fred, or at least Molly and Ginny leaning over his body, right before Lupin and Tonks. Also caught sight of Molly and Bellatrix in battle.

I wonder what they're doing with Harry grabbing hold of Voldemort and jumping? Definitely not in the book.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

  1. I cried. I couldn't help it.

I'm guessing that's Snape at the very beginning. Also, I am so excited that they're going to include "The Prince's Tale" in the film. Best part of the book, I think.

At least they're giving Tonks and Lupin a moment in the battle. We didn't get to see that in the book.

Loved the suits of armor marching. That was epic.

The only thing missing from this trailer is Neville wielding the Sword of Gryffindor.

I wondered why they had Harry and Voldemort battling in Hogwarts... probably to intensify the moment when the battle is over. I wonder if they'll do the final scene in the Great Hall as it was written in the book. I don't see how Harry and Voldemort could have a wand battle between the scene in the Forest and the final confrontation. In fact, I'm not sure that they could have a wand battle at all. That's going to confuse a lot of non-readers when they go into wandlore and who the proper owner of the Elder Wand is.

Watching makes me want to read again. :)

  2. Hi Brooke. Thanks so much for all your thoughts. It's funny you mention the suits of armor. I was toying around with a post the other day where I liken the mobilized suits of armor to those in Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I rewatched that oldie a couple of weeks ago when I was helping out at school and that similarity stuck me. I wonder if JKR used that as inspiration.

You're right about the confusion with the wand lore as well. It's kind of hard to tell from the trailer exactly what's happening when. They seem to have several face to face confrontations between Harry and Voldy. The one that confuses me the most is when Harry grabs Voldy and jumps off the ramparts, or whatever it is.

Still can't wait to see it all!

  3. Watched it yesterday w/Hubby! I loved it enough to ignore the whole extra scene thing. :D Saw all the moments you mentioned. I'm going to need a box of kleenex with me in the theater, I was tearing up just watching the preview.
